Jordan Leopold Interview-July 27, 2015
I had the opportunity to interview former University of Minnesota and current NHL defenseman Jordan Leopold today. He is doing a media gauntlet to announce a partnership between Country Inns and Suites By Carlson and The First Tee, which uses golf as a tool to educate youth.
I asked Mr. Leopold what drew him to The First Tee, since he could choose any number of causes to put his time toward. He cited his own interest in golf, as well as the transferable nature of the game in terms of life skills-from etiquette to leadership to dealing with pressure. Leopold also said the partnership between Country Inn and Suites, which is managed by a Minnesota-based company, and The First Tee was a good fit for him as a native Minnesotan.
I asked Leopold the key question about continuing his playing career, since he is currently a free agent, and more specifically a potential return to the Minnesota Wild. He suggested he is waiting for an opportunity to come, while also stating it would be hard to be away from home again as he was early last season before being traded to the Wild. Just my opinion, but I feel like Leopold's NHL career may be over and if it is he's ok with that.
